The Big 5 Quiz

Step 1 of 10

It’s time to put your knowledge of the Big Five serious eye conditions to the test.

AMD Test

Instructions

  1. Sit at a comfortable distance from the screen where the lines can be seen clearly.
  2. Cover one eye loosely with your hand. (Wash your hands before starting the test.)
  3. Stare directly at the dot in the centre.
  4. Without moving your gaze, identify any areas in the screen where the lines appear to be missing or are distorted.

Visual Acuity Test

Instructions
Since you will be putting your hands near your face, it’s a good idea to wash your hands before you start.

  1. Sit a comfortable distance from the screen so the text is clearly visible. About 1.5 meters away or about five feet.
  2. Loosely cover one eye with your hand.
  3. Using your mouse (or keyboard) indicate which direction the open side of the icon  is facing.

Remember, tests like this can be useful to assessing the sharpness of your vision (or ‘visual acuity’) but they cannot determine if you have an eye disease like glaucoma or problems with the retina. Only an eye care professional can do that. Learn more about eye healthcare professionals here.
